A Meeting Place

Fayette Baptist is excited and pleased to announce that we officially have a place to meet starting on launch day, August 12, 2012!  The Fayette County school board voted unanimously to allow Fayette Baptist to meet Sunday mornings, Sunday nights, and Wednesday nights at West Junior High School.  This has been a huge blessing, and, once again, has exceeded our expectations.

The entryway at West...Fayette Baptist's foyer!

the teachers' lounge, which we are planning to use for our nursery and preschool

one of the many classrooms to which we will have access

Pastor Drew is in awe over the fact that we get to use the library!

We will be utilizing the kitchen for Wednesday night meals

Isn’t God good?!  Thank you, West Junior High, for giving us the opportunity to worship in your facilities!  Hope to see all of you, dear friends and family, here at West on August 12.

“Who may ascend the hill of the Lord? Who may stand in his holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to an idol or swear by what is false.” (Ps 24:3-4)  This was the passage Josh led us through this past Sunday night as he discussed Integrity, one of our core values at Fayette Baptist.  Integrity has been a key virtue to me for most of my life.  Integrity can mean so many things.  To me, much of integrity is beneath the surface, and not just demonstrated in a moment here or there.  Josh reinforced this by pointing out that integrity was just as much about a pure “heart” as it was clean “hands”.  He challenged us to memorize Psalm 19:14 this week, one of my favorite verses.  Josh also shared a video based on a Stanford research study called the Marshmallow Test.  Can you relate to these 4 year olds?

We had a great time Sunday morning and evening with several new friends.  In some ways I think we’re seeing more babies than we are people though!  The nursery was where it was at Sunday!  Many thanks to Stacy, Olivia, and Christinann for taming the crew this week.

We look forward to visiting Kirby Woods Baptist Church this upcoming Sunday morning and meeting Sunday night to hear Pastor Drew discuss Relationships.  Christinann and I will be staffing a booth Sunday morning for a missions fair at Trafalgar Village Baptist Church.  Pray for God to lead us to new opportunities and new contacts!

Ephesians 3:20

“Now unto Him that is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think…”  Ephesians 3:20

This has been something of a “church verse” of Fayette Baptist Church.  From the first core team meeting in our home at the end of October, Pastor Drew has continued to encourage the core team to pray for God to do abundantly above all that we could ask or think.  We have continued to see God work in an incredible way, and this Sunday was another example of Him doing more than we ever thought to ask!

On Sunday morning Fayette Baptist began to meet in the Bellevue Arlington office complex.  We are using these times specifically for the training of the various ministries that we will be offering at Fayette Baptist Church.  We met at Cleaves Memorial in Oakland on Sunday night, and it was such a blessing to be together as a church for both Sunday morning and Sunday evening worship services.  Sunday night was our first open gathering, and we were excited to see nearly 60 people in attendance!   God continues to bless and grow Fayette Baptist Church.

We took a couple of group pictures of our night.  In the first picture we tried to keep it serious.

In the second picture we allowed our people to allow their true personality to shine through.  It looks like the right side of the group is going to be the more stable, mature part of the group.  And we can assure all of you that Kathy Gambrell (aka Beth Moore) will not be working in the nursery (just take a look at her child in the picture and you will understand why we had to take this position).

It was a great Sunday, and we look forward to sharing with you in the coming days how God will continue to work in and through Fayette Baptist Church, doing abundantly and exceedingly above all that we could ask or think!
